This week at the ICPIC conference you’ll hear a lot of interesting presentations. Plenty of sessions will focus in hand hygiene, not to mention the expo area, where almost all major hand hygiene companies will be present. We care especially for presentations such as O38: “Automated/electronic systems for hand hygiene monitoring: a systematic review”, in which “technologies used and evidence regarding their validity, suitability for use and advantages compared to gold standard methods” were evaluated.
The importance of objective hand hygiene assessment is being reconfirmed over and over again, by recent studies as well.
Hospitals in the US are struggling with hand hygiene (see the NY Times report) despite having the most technology support.
